Example upgrade from Freebsd 6.2-STABLE to 7.4-RELEASE 1. Visit http://update.freebsd.org/ and find closest avaible version for your version of freebsd, example : we have 6.2-STABLE, there is no avaible version for upgrade, so we took 6.2-RELEASE, its almost the same. 2. set proper env variable setenv UNAME_r 6.2-RELEASE 3. download freebsd tool with -r option here 4. ./freebsd-update.sh -f freebsd-update.conf -r 7.4-RELEASE upgrade ./freebsd-update.sh -f freebsd-update.conf -r 7.4-RELEASE install if yopur upgrade fail of any reason (problematic .so.7 files or .so.6) you can always rollback upgrade < freebsd-update rollback |
